Government Programs:

Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy

To help employers keep and return workers to their payroll through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the new Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy was announced on March 27, 2020. This provides a 75-per-cent wage subsidy to eligible employers for up to 12 weeks, retroactive to March 15, 2020.

Canada Summer Jobs Program

If you already applied to take part in this program, it will now provide employers with up to 100 per cent of the minimum hourly wage for each employee. Employers are also now allowed to hire staff on a part-time basis.

Work Sharing Program Extended

If you use the federal government Work-Sharing program, it has been extended from 38 weeks to 76 weeks.

Income Tax Deferral For Businesses

All businesses can defer, until after August 31, 2020, payment of any income tax amounts that become owing on or after March 18 and before September 2020.

HASCAP aims to support those in the hardest hit businesses – including those in sectors like tourism and hospitality, hotels, arts and entertainment by providing low-interest loans.

CEBA is a federal government loan program that provides small and medium-sized businesses with a limited-time, interest-free loan of up to $40,000.

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Direct Deposit Via Financial Instututions

If you are a Chinook or Legacy Financial member, to help you receive quicker payments from the CRA, you can sign up for direct deposits from the CRA through online banking with all of our four divisions. Just sign into online banking to get started.

Canada Emergency Business Account (CEWS)

To help employers keep and re-hire workers amidst the challenges posed by COVID-19, the Government of Canada has implemented the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). The CRA is administering the CEWS on behalf of the Government. Business owners can now sign up for direct deposit with CRA right through their online banking.

Export Development Canada (EDC) Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP)

The Export Development Canada (EDC) Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP) offers businesses financial relief by providing a loan of up to $6.25 million for short-term liquidity.

Business members from all divisions of Connect First Credit Union can now apply for the EDC BCAP.
