Connect First
Amplifies Your Donations
June 28, 2020 | Calgary, AB: Theatre Calgary is a staple in
the city’s arts community since its inception in 1968. Unfortunately, COVID-19
has left seats empty and the theatre dark; however, that does not mean the show
can’t go on!
Shakespeare
by the Bow is Theatre Calgary’s premier program that supports emerging artists.
“It was imperative for Theatre Calgary to not lose our summer
tradition production of Shakespeare by the Bow, and the invaluable experience
we provide for Alberta’s emerging artists,” says Stafford Arima, Theatre
Calgary’s Artistic Director. “The generous support we have received allows
art, creativity, and passion to prevail in these challenging times.”
Theatre
Calgary, and 34 other local organizations have been able to amplify donations
from their network by driving donors to Connect First Credit Union’s new
donation matching portal.
Any contribution (up to $500) made to a registered
non-profit or charity through the donation matching portal will be matched at a
rate of 50%, to a maximum of $50,000.
“Community
is at the heart of the credit union and we know many Albertans are struggling
with uncertainties during this time. Alberta’s non-profits are on the
frontlines helping people through this pandemic, and these organizations need
our support as well.” says Wellington Holbrook, Chief Operating Officer of Connect First Credit Union and its four regional divisions, First Calgary
Financial, Chinook Financial, Mountain View Financial and Legacy Financial.
Non-profits are essential to life in Alberta. Reports
from Imagine Canada show that due to COVID-19, nearly 70% of Canadian
charities have reported an average decrease of 30% in revenue. Additionally,
45% of organizations believe their financial situation will be worse in three
to six months.
If you are looking to donate to your favorite Alberta
non-profit or charity, make those dollars go further with Connect First Credit
Union.
