Making Money Make a Difference Across 13 Alberta Communities This Holiday Season

Calgary, AB – Being ever mindful of the current economic times, the First Calgary Financial and Chinook Financial divisions of Connect First Credit Union set out to spread holiday cheer across southern Alberta. Employees paid bills, covered rent, took care of mortgage payments, and helped relieve the stress and burden of loan payments.

Here’s a glimpse into these experiences:

“It can be difficult to not worry about bill and mortgage payments in the tough economy faced by so many of our communities," said Scot Hadden, President of Chinook Financial. "We wanted to give back in a way that lets our members focus on what the holidays are all about: family and friends.”

"This year has been harder than most for many Calgarians, and we knew we could help to ease some of the pressure people are feeling as they head into the holidays," said Shelley Vandenberg, President of First Calgary Financial. "It's humbling and meaningful to be able to give back in this way, and we encourage everyone to find their own impactful ways to celebrate this season of giving."

“Our mission to Make Money Make a Difference captures the essence of our credit union. We strive every day to make a positive impact in the communities we call home,” says Paul Kelly, CEO of Connect First Credit Union. “This past year has seen very difficult economic conditions that have hit some of our members particularly hard. Helping them out with their financial obligations makes sense, and makes it easier for them to enjoy the holidays.”

Connect First Credit Union offers its members a full range of financial products and services through trusted local brands and a community-focused approach to banking. Connect First Credit Union is Canada’s tenth largest credit union, with over $5 billion in assets under administration. It serves 100,000 members through 27 branches in 13 communities across southern Alberta, under the Chinook Financial and First Calgary Financial divisions.
